To service or not to service: that is the question:
Whilst it may be nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or of a sudden be hit by a multitude of unforeseen problems,
Is it not best to leave the drama to Shakespeare?
Otherwise, with an unexpected breakdown, it may be a case of
“Engineer, engineer! Wherefore art thou engineer?”
So, I say, let us not ‘Cry “havoc!” and let slip’ service and e’en more
That this foul twist of fate shall spell lost sales and cost the earth
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown
And with so many demands leaving you worn down
Think costly thy habit as thy purse can buy
For your expresso to always be fancy, and customers ne’er to pass by
But tarry not for long, as brevity is the soul of wit,
Let me draw to a close, and get straighter to it;
keeping your machine working should be your obsession
And forget not, the better part of valour is discretion.
In summary, whilst anything can happen at any time to your coffee equipment, as is the unfortunate nature of electrical and mechanical machinery, the most cost-effective way of protecting your business from unexpected breakdowns and lost service time, is to arrange your annual service and water filter change with John Street Beverage.
The regular exchange of your water filter is particularly important, as even if they are not used heavily, they degrade over time. And as they become less efficient so greater amounts of harmful limescale gets through to your coffee machine, causing elements to fail, group heads to block, and other such insidious results. As a modern-day Lady Macbeth might be heard to remark, “A little [properly filtered] water clears us of this deed”. And not being one to ignore such esteemed advice, we strongly suggest changing the filter at the time of the annual service. If you are a particularly busy site, adding a six-month filter change as well as replacing your group seals and shower plates is well worth considering.
Whilst the focus tends to be on coffee machines, we find that sites which have water boilers usually overlook the care of these, and often they only require a regular descale. This is something that we can remedy, ensuring that you do not end up with an exorbitant cost of repair in relation to the actual cost of the boiler in the first instance.
